The room was clean and pleasant, and we liked the second-floor deck. The fireplace setup was a letdown: guests need to bring food, lighter fluid, and matches, and nobody mentioned that. I had to contact the staff to find out. They also weren't especially attentive or helpful, so I probably wouldn't stay again. It's a nice lodge otherwise.

Check-in was easy, but the towels were faded and worn, not what I'd expect from a 3.5-star hotel. The balcony was buried in snow and management should have cleared it. They really need to provide decent towels.

The cabin was 58 degrees at 4 a.m. because the heaters didn't work, and my children woke up freezing. With tile floors throughout, that was miserable. Half the appliances and amenities were out of order, and the microwave over the stove looked like it might fall, so it was frightening to be near. We'd reserved more than a month ahead, but the room wasn't the one we'd booked. Staff offered nothing to fix that except an extra set of thin blankets and sheets. We arrived after 8 p.m. following a five-hour drive with tired kids, and couldn't find another room until the next day. There was no one at the front desk. After I spent 12 hours on the phone with the person there, he gave me an attitude, just as he had the night before when I raised the room mix-up. They still wanted to charge us for one night and showed me links to their rooms, claiming the other website hadn't been updated. Completely unacceptable. Don't stay here. I would give it zero stars if I could. This felt like a scummy business practice, with terrible customer service.

Thanksgiving night was awful. Around midnight everything in the hotel went quiet, then I heard footsteps in the hall, knocks against the wall, and water sounds from the bathroom. We couldn't sleep at all. I recorded the creepy noises from our room that night and have footage.

The beds were terrible, bugs were in the room, including scorpions and cockroaches, and the road noise made it hard to get any peace or sleep. The hotel is right off the main road, and it's dated in a shabby way, not a charming vintage one. It's the worst motel I've stayed at in years, and I travel often. I've found nicer places in third-world countries. Save yourself and book somewhere else. The manager wasn't in the office when I checked, many times, but texted me 15 times when I arrived to pin down my check-in time to the exact minute. He doesn't want to hire help, apparently because it's too expensive, and wants to know the five minutes he'll need to be at the desk. He also sent passive-aggressive morning texts saying the maids couldn't handle cleaning up a little glitter. You're a maid, you clean kid vomit and all kinds of nasty bed stains, and you're complaining to the manager about a bit of glitter? Do your job and stop whining like a little girl. At first the manager may act nice and go out of his way if you're friendly, but it feels like a ruse, not sincere. He seems to want you gone and never back. He's really sus too, in a bad way.
