Castle Wood Theme Cottages- Couples Only

The host was so helpful and had an amazing personality. We were taken away by the experience. Pick whichever theme you like, it definitely won’t disappoint. It’s right by the lake and village, so there’s a lot to do. Definitely recommend!

We went in late December, and the Castle Garden was the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed. The cottages are right in the middle of Big Bear, and this one was themed so perfectly that it felt completely immersive. We brought costumes and took lots of photos, and the cottage made an ideal backdrop. I can’t recommend it enough. Phenomenal!

We’re checking out tomorrow after a quick two-night getaway, and we’re already talking about coming back. The Tree House has been amazing, and next time we’re planning to book The Castle. Sir Gawain really stood out, too. Such a professional, with 10/10 service.

The cabin’s details blew me away. It’s spread across three levels, with the entrance on the second floor. There’s a Jacuzzi just inside on the left and a swing beneath a tree on the right. Downstairs, a little drawbridge crosses a water-filled “moat” to the dining space and long table. The kitchenette has an ice machine, Brita pitcher, sink, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, and restroom. The bedroom is upstairs, with a gargoyle watching over it and statues of a king and queen. Some sconces and lights are broken or missing, and the knight no longer works. Still, when I flipped the switches by the swing, I was amazed to see the blue lights come on and water start flowing down the fountain by the kitchen. Everything feels intentionally designed, from the rainfall shower head and stones in the shower to the shaped mirror. I didn’t find the stone-like decorations icky at all. The vaulted ceilings, stained glass, and flickering lights added to the atmosphere. We put on Celtic music and enjoyed the quiet away from the city. There’s a TV in the bedroom, but why watch TV in a castle garden? I was so excited when we arrived that I was literally jumping up and down. This wasn’t even our first day there, and I already couldn’t wait to update my review. I got his-and-hers slippers for my boyfriend as an anniversary gift, and they were perfect on the castle floors. We loved the place and highly recommend it, even though some details have fallen into disrepair over time.
