The room was clean and had new mattresses, and I’d stay here again. The hotel is being renovated and there are definitely areas to improve, but they seem to be moving in the right direction. I’d like to see the reception area rearranged. Guests shouldn’t first see a refrigerator and extra lamps at the lobby entrance. You only get one chance at a first impression. Curious to see how the work progresses. The staff were friendly.
The stay wasn’t terrible, and for a tourist area the room was fairly priced. Staff were nice enough, but the room only looked clean at first glance. The furniture was in pretty bad shape and the shower was close to broken. Breakfast felt even more limited than a typical continental spread. It’s at the low end, so don’t expect luxury.
The staff were friendly and helpful when my room key didn’t work, and the replacement worked right away. But I was disappointed by the cleanliness and lack of preparation. I’d booked a guest room online with two queen beds because I wanted hotel amenities after staying in an Airbnb. The room didn’t look recently cleaned, and the doors, floors, and surfaces didn’t seem sanitized before check-in. The building was being painted, with tape, paper, and plastic still at the entrance to my room when I checked out. I don’t mind renovations during a stay, but I wish I’d been warned when booking. Big Bear is beautiful, but check the location before you reserve.
For $70 a night, this is a basic hotel, nothing fancy, and I’m not sure what people expecting more are looking for. The Asian lady at the front office was very nice and check-in was easy. We stayed one night after a beautiful 4th of July celebration at Big Bear Lake, before getting back on the road to Los Angeles. Our room was clean and smelled pleasant, the TV, microwave, and refrigerator all worked, and the shower pressure was great. We had a good stay and would come back.
The room was in good shape, and I was really happy with the stay. The location was peaceful, we felt secure, and parking was decent. The linen was clean and smelled super fresh, not stale like at most motels, and the bed was comfy enough that I slept really well. The water heated up fast, and so did the heater, which was the best part. Free WiFi too, couldn’t be more thankful for that lol. The renovations are pretty obvious, but I think they look great so far. The price was excellent, and I’d highly recommend it if you’re on a bit of a budget.
