We couldn’t move around freely because the cottage had so little space, and the photos were misleading. We knew it would be small, but still expected somewhere comfortable and clean. It was neither. Even though pets weren’t allowed, there was dog fur all over the sofa, pullout bed, floor, and rugs. We used a sheet to sit on the sofa and ended up getting an air mattress. When I asked the manager for a vacuum, I was told it didn’t work, so we got a broom and dustpan instead. There was far too much fur for just a few days’ worth. The kitchen wasn’t clean either. The coffee pot had old coffee and lots of hard-water flakes; we ran four water cycles through it. Both pots had stuck-on food, which we had to remove with boiling water and soap. In the bathroom, the shower looked dirty, with mildew-like stuff in the corners. The mats seemed like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the drain clogged during our first shower. We cleaned the mats and unclogged the drain ourselves. We were told the owner would come inspect the cottage, discuss our concerns, and talk about a partial refund. I’m guessing that was to avoid a negative review, but the owner never showed. There was a sign telling guests to raise concerns with the manager and not leave a negative review. We won’t stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family.
