Hampton Inn Big Bear Lake

Our kids said, “This hotel has EVERYTHING you need!” They had a great time, and we were thankful for the stay. There's an indoor pool, a really good fitness room, a spacious common room with a TV, plus a patio for barbecues and evening s'mores. Each family gets a s'mores kit. The room was roomy and the beds were comfortable. It came with a fridge, microwave, kitchen sink, sponge and soap, dishes and utensils, and even a dishwasher. The hotel is pet friendly but still very clean, with no pet smell. Everyone we met on staff, from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping, was friendly. Free continental breakfast is served daily. Restaurants are across the street and Snow Summit is about five minutes away. Definitely kid friendly, and we'd recommend it.

Our room had plenty of space and lots of wall hooks for hanging wet clothes after skiing. The hotel is clean and well kept, about a five-minute drive from both the mountains and the small town. Breakfast comes with the stay. There's not much variety, but it was fine. They also give you a tasty s'mores kit each day for the terrace fireplaces. The staff were attentive and friendly, and there's a large parking lot for an extra charge.

We only needed one night to rest, but ended up moving rooms around midnight after a frustrating arrival. We got in around 10 p.m. and the lights didn't work. It took several trips up and down to find someone, then about 30 minutes before the problem was fixed. The AC was broken too. We went downstairs again, waited almost an hour for staff to check it, and the room was either extremely cold or making a very loud noise. When I explained it was nearly 11, we were exhausted, and only staying one night, all they said was, “sorry, nothing can be done.” After a lot of insisting, they finally gave us another room and we had to move all our things. It was a very bad experience. I don't recommend this hotel at all. Room 314.

The kids especially loved the s'mores night, and movie night was fun too. There was a nice outdoor fire, and the indoor pool and hot tub were just right for relaxing after a long day. Breakfast was great each morning. Every staff member we met was warm and accommodating, and the hotel went out of its way to make a trip with young children feel special. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. Highly recommend!
