The Republic Hotel

Within two days, the power went out, and someone on the second floor tried to open every door, practically breaking in. When I told the manager, he brushed it off and denied it happened. The hotel is filthy. I politely asked for cleaning and vacuuming, but the manager didn’t want to do it. We asked for towels and were told there was only one per person. The first floor walls are infused with the smell of chicken masala. If people say this hotel is good, I’m pretty sure they’re lying to boost its rating. I don’t recommend it.

The Wi-Fi is fast and there’s plenty of hot water. It’s comfortable enough for a hotel and well managed for an independently owned place. They don’t serve breakfast.

Sam went above and beyond with his hospitality. Thank you for being so kind while we were grieving. Charlie Walker and I appreciate your care and concern. We’ll definitely say hi whenever we’re in Big lake!

We stayed for a night and a day and a half, and the price was fair. The TV only stayed on one channel, but we were going to sleep anyway, so it didn’t matter much. I didn’t like that there was no coffee in the morning, though there’s a gas station down the street. The lady at the front was very nice.
