Plaza Inn Big Spring

It was quiet the night I stayed, and the location was easy to get to. There's a gas station next door, so it seems like a handy stop if you're traveling with an RV. The beds were so comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there were lots of TV channels. Breakfast had waffles and cereal. Great experience for the price.

Nothing fancy, just an inexpensive place to stop after a long drive. The grounds and lobby were clean, and so was the room. The bed was comfortable. It's close to the highway, so there's some noise, though not too bad. I'll definitely stay again when I'm in the area.

The shower wouldn't work, and the tub's drain plug had broken off. After giving myself a sponge bath, I checked out and politely asked for a refund. They credited just $10 to my card, saying their posted policy meant it would usually be 10% or $6.95, so I was lucky to get that. Ridiculous, insulting, and disturbing. When I raised the shower issue, the employee pulled a spigot from her desk and demonstrated how it worked. If complaints are common enough that you keep one there, fix the problem and replace the spigots. As I was leaving, she said, "you should have called the desk." Rude, insulting customer service. Worst motel stay of my 67 years. Do not stay here.

For $90, this room was overpriced. The furniture was old and beat up, though at least the room was clean. The bedding didn't match: pink flat sheets, no fitted sheet, and a curtain that went with nothing. The chair was so stained and dirty I didn't want my cat sitting on it, and even with a towel down I felt grossed out. Outside, the place was dirty too. What are they thinking with the renovation, putting in LED or fluorescent lighting that makes it feel like an insane asylum or jail? I nearly turned around and said they could keep my $90. There was also such a big crack in the door that outside light lit the room at night. They should throw out that chair and buy a $30 one.
