Residence Inn Winston-Salem Hanes Mall

My room was clean and everything worked, and I really like the room and the area. Still, kids ran through the hallways and slammed doors all night while their parents stayed in the lobby getting drunk. It started up again around 6 in the morning. I called and went to the front desk several times, and clearly wasn't the only one who complained. I might stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice, which is a shame.

I'm a loyal Bonvoy member and have worked at a hospital for a long time. I stay at this location on weekends when I'm on call. The front desk staff are extremely rude: they answer the phone without giving their names and hang up before you're finished speaking. I'd strongly suggest looking for another Marriott hotel in the area.

The location was the clear plus, with food and shopping close by, and the room seemed clean with a comfortable bed. The pool was open, the gym was clean and useful, and housekeeping was attentive and seemed to be working constantly. Some staff became friendlier later, but the welcome was poor: the woman who checked us in was standoffish and gave us incorrect information. There’s just one washer and dryer, breakfast was disappointing, and the coffee could be better. We stayed over the weekend and found the experience only okay.

We arrived late and picked this place for its location, but the room smelled like smoke and the bed and pillows were both hard. The online rate was $114, but booking at the desk cost us $190. There was no breakfast. Someone’s TV woke us up, though the front desk fixed that quickly. We’re kicking ourselves for not going downtown to the bed and breakfast for $141 a night, where we could have had a gourmet breakfast. Terrible stay, and never again.
