Spark by Hilton Biloxi Ocean Springs

The person at the front desk was nice, and my room was clean. Coffee was just coffee. Still, be aware of the problems: the bathroom door locked every time it shut, so I had to pick the lock to get in. This was room 223. There was only one trash can, in the bathroom, and the sink in the bedroom felt odd, though it didn’t bother me much. The walls are thin enough that you hear everything, and there was some mold in the sink’s overflow holes. The reviews are telling the truth. It’s doable, but go in knowing that.

We only stopped here because we needed a place to stay on a long road trip. We were exhausted and knew Spark wasn’t a luxury brand, but the unclean room was still a nasty surprise. The bathroom and shower were dirty, and there was toilet paper left in the toilet. It was disappointing. I won’t stay at this location again, and I’m not sure I’d stay at another Spark if this is how they’re maintained.

Check-in was easy, and the staff even gave us a great local tip for a skate shop where my son could get bearings and other accessories. I was delighted to see my name on the TV when we got to the room. The beds were really comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the TV and AC both worked well. The member welcome bag with bottled water and a snack was a nice touch. We had a great stay.

On the second night, after a lot of guests seemed to have checked out, housekeeping left all those rooms open without cleaning them. You could see the partly stripped beds and dirty rooms from the hall. I’ve never seen anything like that, and I’m never staying at another SPARK. My reservation was for three nights, and already on the first night I wondered if I’d ended up in some kind of motel for prostitution. There were plenty of questionable-looking people roaming the hallways. This place was a trainwreck, more like a MOTEL than a Hilton. Shame on you, Hilton. I’ve never stayed at a Hilton brand hotel this shabby.
