Holiday Inn Express Birch Run - Frankenmuth Area by IHG

The worst part was what happened to my swimsuit. I'd worn it at two other hotels without a problem, but after 20 to 30 minutes in this pool and hot tub, it was completely bleached. They said the chemicals were fine and credited me $50, just enough to cover the suit. I had no swimsuit for the rest of my road trip. The bread and bagels smelled about a month old, and road noise carried all night. The place wasn't among the cleanest hotels on my trip. Also, drinks aren't allowed in the pool or hot tub area. If I'd known that, I would have booked elsewhere and avoided the whole mess.

Nicole and Rob were so welcoming, and you could tell they take pride in their work and love this hotel. Their upbeat attitude rubbed off on me. The place was clean and comfortable, as you'd expect from a Holiday Inn, but the warmth from the staff was a lovely surprise. I'd recommend staying here if you're passing through Birch Run.

The evening front desk staff were great when we checked in. Our assigned room had a toilet that wouldn't flush, so they offered us another room. Breakfast, though, was awful. The coffee tasted bitter, the biscuits and gravy were bland, and cereal only had fat-free milk. It took 20 minutes to get the pancake machine working. After it was refilled, the worker made herself a plate and claimed it, and didn't clean the machine.

The whole team made us feel welcome from check-in to checkout, and our family had a weekend to remember. Our room was lovely and clean, and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. The staff were amazing, and I hope the manager knows how proud they can be of this team. We'll absolutely come back.
