Courtyard By Marriott Birmingham Grandview

The front desk staff were pleasant, and the room was clean. Housekeeping serviced the rooms every other day. It seems like a new hotel, maybe less than a year old or about a year. The suites are on the first floor, so I switched to a studio because I don’t stay on lower floors. The studio was still roomy and nice. It’s close to the medical center and about five minutes from food and shopping. I’ve marked it as a place to return to.

We were working as the bridal registry team at the Courtyard Marriott at Grandview in Birmingham this weekend. After working in hundreds of hotels across the United States, we know how much the people can shape an experience. Keandra took care of us from the moment we arrived, staying upbeat, smiling, and somehow making everyone around her smile too. She helped with every little thing we needed and made the whole visit smooth and welcoming. She and the staff left a lasting impression, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Employees like Keandra are why people return and why businesses want to work with a hotel again.

Beautiful space, comfy beds, and check in and out were easy. Great experience!

The hotel looks impressive, with design and finishes that feel above the usual brand standard. It’s one of the nicest Courtyard by Marriott / Residence Inn by Marriott buildouts I’ve seen, and some Autograph Collection Hotels properties don’t compare. But the service and operations don’t live up to the space. The same staff were checking people in, preparing food, and bartending, which meant long waits and inconsistent service. Even basic drinks were made incorrectly. Uber drivers also had trouble finding the hotel because of how its address and location are set up, something a newer property should have resolved. Cleanliness needs attention too, with areas that looked overlooked and details that seemed missed during the initial buildout.
