The grounds were kept up nicely, the maintenance crew took care of issues promptly, and I felt safe living here as a single woman because the community is gated. Zac, the property manager, handled my concerns, so ask for him if you’re interested. I had a great experience and loved staying there. The only thing I hated was having to leave because of a job reassignment.

My car was broken into in April, along with several others. This time the break-ins happened at both Axel Row sites. Residents are also subleasing units on Airbnb, bringing more random people into the community. This place feels far from safe. I’ve had ongoing problems since moving in July. Trash collection has been so inconsistent that maggots from overflowing bins and bags left out for days have made their way into my apartment. Weed smell from a neighbor’s unit comes through the vents, and I can hear nearly everything from the apartments above and next door. The parking gate has been broken for months, leaving reserved spaces open for others, and several residents’ cars, including mine, have been broken into. Cole, the former assistant community manager, did help with some issues. But when I brought up the gate, community manager Sarah deflected instead of taking responsibility for the delay. She said that even with the gate working, someone could still enter through the back and break into cars. That response made it feel like management wasn’t serious about security or making the complex safer, and cared more about collecting rent for overpriced apartments. I’ve also read that many recent five-star reviews came from a Christmas incentive program, so I wouldn’t put much stock in them.

The balcony gives me a view of concerts at Avondale, and the location is extremely convenient. The community space is beautiful, the elevator is great, and the apartments look sleek and modern. You can hear some music from the bars and Avondale, but it always stops around 10 or 11 pm. It doesn’t go on all night or keep me and my fiancé from sleeping. Seems like a good fit for people in their 20s and 30s who don’t mind that bit of background noise.

I rented an Axel Row apartment for my daughter in summer 2022. A week later the AC broke, so we put in a maintenance request as directed. Management made promises, then told us two weeks later they couldn’t fix it because the apartment was still under contract with the builder. One of the guys in the office used obscene language with my wife, and our conversations with management went nowhere. They gave us a portable AC, but it was noisy and couldn’t cool the Alabama summer heat effectively. After a whole month, the AC unit still didn’t work, so we moved out. Management said they’d return the last month’s rent, then stopped answering calls and messages. I’d read another review mentioning the broken gate, maggots from late trash pickup, poor construction, lack of privacy, and an elevator out of service for a long time. All of that is true. I hesitated to post, but after reading others’ bad experiences, I felt I should share mine.
