The house and garden are beautiful, and the property combines classic features with modern touches. It was quiet, felt safe for us and our car, and was kept immaculate indoors apart from a few issues. We liked the first-floor room, and used the dining room on our last evening. Parking behind the house was a nice perk since nearby business lots have strict rules. We rarely saw other guests, just parked cars and one person in the common area. The location is easy to find, walkable to stores and restaurants, and a short drive from groceries. Even with transients and homeless people in the area, we never felt in danger, and no non-guests were loitering on the property. There were no staff around that we saw, though someone was clearly cleaning common areas. Our room wasn’t cleaned during the stay, and the broken hallway water filter stayed that way the whole time. It would have been nice to have hot water for tea or coffee. There’s no breakfast, as we knew, but perhaps a few pastries could be offered. Outlets are limited, so bring an extension cord if you need several. There were no hooks or hangers, so bring clothes that don’t need ironing. The room had no lamps, just the bathroom light or main room light. The spacious bathroom was a nice blend of character and modern style, with a hot shower and good pressure. We didn’t need a plunger, but another guest was searching around and eventually found one in the dining room bathroom. I’d still stay here again and recommend it. Overall, good value.

We had a lovely one-night midweek getaway in Birmingham. Suite 8 was wonderful, and we slept inside the turret. Everything was as expected for a guest house, with all the comforts taken care of. Thanks for the clear booking and arrival instructions!

If you’re into antiques and old things, you’ll love this place. Staying in the house feels like stepping back into the 1800s, and every detail is beautiful. The king-size bed was really comfortable, and the furniture and corner sofas made it feel cozy and inviting.

The house is beautiful, with a gazebo and wraparound porch, though there aren’t any chairs outside to enjoy them. I spent one night in RM 3 and another in RM 2. Both rooms had clean sheets and towels, but the bath mats looked used, there were leftover hair ties, and both rooms were dusty with hair in the tubs. It should be addressed, though I don’t blame the owner, who depends on the cleaning crew. The place doesn’t have much period furniture; it’s newer furniture made to look a bit old. The location is okay, but traffic is busy and getting out is difficult. The town was clearly built around the house.

The house is gorgeous, with its windows, woodwork, and wraparound porch. I appreciate how the owner is preserving its authentic character. The furniture is more modern, which I like, and the outdoor space is lovely, so bring a small folding chair since there’s no outdoor furniture. I understand why they leave it that way, as chairs might take away from the home. Room 8 was clean and roomy. I was in town for a concert with my son, and we both loved the place. I slept peacefully, felt safe, and found the house very clean. I didn’t like the carpet, though I understand it’s there to protect the natural wood and reduce sound. The area is very nice and safe. Parking is tight but manageable if everyone parks properly. I’ll definitely stay again.
