My dad's experience at Home2 Suites by Hilton Birmingham Downtown on February 26, 2026 was unacceptable. Because of what they called a “processing error,” $5,000 was taken from his bank account without authorization. He was told it would be fixed quickly, but his money still hadn't been returned by March 4th. This was a major hit to his finances, not a small billing mistake. I'm also alarmed by reports that the accounting department handles sensitive payment details insecurely, including writing full credit card numbers on sticky notes. That raises serious concerns about data security, internal controls, and PCI compliance. If a guest took even a small unpaid item from the front desk, I'd expect a swift response. But when $5,000 is improperly withdrawn from a customer, there seems to be no comparable urgency or accountability. That's unacceptable. People trust a nationally branded hotel to act professionally, securely, and with integrity, and this experience has damaged that trust. I expect the money returned promptly, full accountability, and confirmation of steps to prevent this happening to another guest. Be cautious about giving this property your payment information.

The staff were friendly, but my first room had a lot of strange stains on the furniture. They let me switch rooms, which was fine, though the AC in the new room was loud all night and the mugs there were dirty too. The rooms at home2suites were disappointing for cleanliness. Downtown parking is also completely open, with no gate or security, so it seems like a prime chance for a car break-in.

On Saturday February 14, my husband and I had a lovely candlelit dinner for Valentine’s Day and a birthday. The food was delicious, and Chris, our host, served us so professionally that the evening was even more enjoyable. We had a memorable night at the Home 2 Suites Hilton Birmingh✨️.

The huge rooms and lovely lobby were great, and breakfast had nice choices, including buckwheat waffle mix and a vanilla yogurt dispenser 😋. Everything was clean, and the staff were awesome and so nice. The location is convenient, too. There's no valet parking, which made getting in and out easy.
