The parking deck and convention center connect to the hotel by catwalks, which made getting around easy. Our clean, well-stocked room was directly above the interstate, and the kids thought it was cool watching the traffic. A sound machine might help with sleep because of the cars, though the noise didn't bother us. We were there for the state beta convention, and the hotel did a phenomenal job accommodating so many schools and children. We had a great stay.

The staff were really friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms are clean, spacious, and recently renovated. It's a solid three-star place overall, though the windows and elevators still look untouched. Highway noise is the biggest problem. Several times I woke up when a loud truck or car went by, and it sounds as if the windows are open. They need better soundproofing, maybe double glazing. Only two of the five elevators in the main section work, so at busy times we had to take the stairs from the 11th floor. We came for a convention. Breakfast isn't a buffet, just an order at the bar or to the room, and we were warned it could take up to two hours. Our room order was always wrong, so expect to use Uber Eats or other nearby restaurants, especially in the morning.

Ask for a room away from the highway if you can't handle traffic noise. The elevators are tricky, and you might get stuck in one. The gym seemed barely functional, which killed my motivation to use it. My room cleanliness was only a B-minus: I found pills on the floor when I arrived, so clearly it hadn't been swept. Room service was like trying to call a deceased ancestor. During the week it stays busy, and the bar is full of people paying for expensive drinks. The food taste gets a C-plus, but the portions are generous.

I was in town on business and will definitely return to the Sheraton. The room attendant, Indiyah, did a great job, and I didn't have to ask for anything. When I got back from my day out, the bed had been made, the old towels replaced, and the bathroom tidied. There was more coffee and water, too, and a card on the dresser saying, “It is our pleasure we are here to help you enjoy your stay,” signed Indiyah. I've never had this kind of service at another hotel. My king room was very clean, and I walked 24 minutes to Railroad Park, which was an easy enough walk. I usually don't tip, but I definitely did this time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For the price and the name, I expected much more than this. The valet was meant to bring our car when we texted the code, but didn't go get it until we came downstairs and asked. The next morning at checkout, they ran off with the keys, and I noticed our car was still where we'd left it the night before, unlocked in downtown Birmingham. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the BJCC, where we had a weekend event. A wreck held us up on the interstate, so we arrived late, tired, and in a storm. Check-in itself was painless, but valet parking at $43 a night was basically the only option. Our room was on the far end of the eighth floor, one floor above the interstate, and the traffic noise came through loudly. The bathroom had a barn door that didn't lock, the water was scalding hot, the laminate floor was peeling, and the AC wouldn't go below 68. Breakfast downstairs the next morning was nasty and extremely overpriced, $80 for five people. I'm very disappointed in the stay.
