SpringHill Suites by Marriott Birmingham Colonnade

The night audit employee was so kind and helpful when we arrived early in the morning after a long drive. We really appreciated his welcome. I also wanted to mention a safety concern in our room: tiles by the toilet and tub were badly cracked, with raised, sharp edges. Water pooled there after showers, making it slippery. We were traveling with our one-year-old daughter, who's just learning to walk, so that worried us. That morning, at about 6:12, I went to get a little milk for her after the night auditor confirmed it would be available. The breakfast attendant spoke to me very rudely, saying breakfast didn't start until 6:30 and I shouldn't be there or take the milk. I understand there are set hours, but the tone was unnecessarily harsh, especially given how small the request was. I hope this feedback is addressed. We appreciated the front desk team's hospitality and hope it helps improve things for future guests.

The front desk ladies were polite and nice, but the room was definitely lacking in cleanliness. There were bottles, caps, hair ties, and hair under the bed. When we pulled out the sofa bed, it was dirty and had hair on it too. The room also felt outdated.

Parking was easy, and the staff were friendly. I could've used clearer lighting controls in the room, though it met my needs. Finding the place with GPS was harder than it should be because there was little to no signage.

I'd stay here again for soccer if I got the same rate. The front desk was consistently friendly, replies through the Bonvoy app were quick, and the room seemed mostly clean. The price was good compared with the local Marriott, which costs much more and had a closed lounge the last time I went. I don't like Fairfield, which is right next door. A few things could be better. On weekends, breakfast starts too late for soccer families, though some food was available early. Please add hot chocolate for the kids and more tea choices. There were visible stains on a towel and the toilet. There's no restaurant in walking distance, so we drove to Slice for pizza. Maintenance seemed off their game: a water fountain was broken with no notice about repairs, and there was no other water in the common area. When we asked, the front desk did give us free bottles. Also, it's a trundle bed, not a pull-out sofa, so we wasted time removing the sofa cushions. There were sheets for only one trundle, and no pillows came with that sheet set, so two kids would need more bedding. One big letdown: there was no SEC channel, so we couldn't watch the Auburn Kentucky game. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
