I stayed here while my house was being cleaned up after a small kitchen fire, and they had no problem letting my three cats stay with me. The Lodge was being renovated then, and I had an updated room. It was comfortable and bright with the curtains open. The bed was great, and the sheets and pillows were very inviting. The staff were good as gold. I didn’t eat there, but my friends are going to a birthday luncheon for me there, and I hear the food is good.

The one thing that really bothered me on a recent lunch was the radio. Just minutes after I ordered, the waitress turned her favorite AM station up full blast. The dining room was otherwise empty except for an older couple and me. I asked if she could turn it down or, better yet, off. She lowered it only a little, if at all. I’m old fashioned, I know, but it was sad to see the work and money the new owners put in potentially undermined by an employee’s boredom or thoughtlessness. Nobody, even staff, should heavily intrude on the shared atmosphere of a restaurant. I tip very well and did that day, but I doubt I’d risk another lunch with music blaring. It’s a neat old motel and restaurant about ten minutes from Bisbee. I’ve eaten breakfast and lunch there more than a dozen times, though I haven’t stayed at the motel. The food is excellent. New owners took over not long ago, remodeled the restaurant, and added Indian food to the American and Mexican menu. I’ve only tried the American options, but I’d guess the other food is good too. The dining room is nicely done, with tablecloths and good furniture. Lunch comes with chips and great salsa, the waitress was attentive, and prices are average to low for better than average diner food. There’s free wifi, and the mountain views toward the border with Mexico are lovely.

It’s quite a distance from historic Bissbee, though close to the border.
