Wedgewood Motor Inn

For the price, it was a great value. We had some delicious places to eat just a short walk away, too. The motel has clearly been renovated, with fresh flooring and paint, updated furniture, and comfortable beds. We had a very pleasant stay.

The room was filthy. Mold on the shower curtain, and stains and dirt all over the walls. The coffee pot was extremely nasty. Where is the health department? I know this is an old motel, but we came to Blackstone for a family member’s funeral and appreciated the convenient location. If I’d known how bad the conditions were, I definitely wouldn’t have stayed.

We found bugs and mouse droppings in all our rooms, so we told the front desk. The man there picked up some mouse traps he had piled behind the desk and handed them to me. Sir, that wasn’t the kind of anxiety we wanted to take to bed. We were just passing through with small children and our elderly mother. We politely and apologetically asked if we could leave, and the owner or manager went into a complete rage. For the next 20 minutes he banged on doors and screamed for us to go, making us pack up and leave right away. His outburst was enough that we considered calling the police, but we were tired and irritated, so we booked a room in South Hill for the same price and moved on. Like I said, praying mercy on this man.

I stayed four nights, and they took out the trash just once. They didn’t clean the room or make the bed while I was at work, but some of my things had been moved, and I don’t know why if they weren’t cleaning. Room 114 had rats and roaches; room 115 had roaches and bed bugs. I’m guessing the other rooms are like that too. The owner was disrespectful and got me in trouble for bringing a bigger bag to put my trash in, since they weren’t taking it out.
