Quality Inn Blackwell I-35

Nicole and Allen gave me great service, and the stay was quiet and restful. The hotel sits a little off the main road among what feels like a garden of hotels, and it's good value with a pool. Breakfast had both hot and cold choices and a waffle maker, pretty standard for a better mid-priced place. The heated pool was delightful.

We stayed two nights, 3/11 and 3/12, and the room's condition and cleanliness were very disappointing. We arrived late to a strong, unpleasant smell. There was dried urine on the toilet seat, not many towels, and the pillows and bedding smelled bad. We left a note on the bed before work the next morning asking for fresh sheets and a bed pad. After a long day, we came back to find the room untouched and the note still there. The front desk attendant said housekeeping wasn't servicing stayover rooms because they were short-staffed. I asked for clean sheets and a bed pad. The only employee on duty was juggling check-ins, housekeeping issues, and everything else alone. She tried to help, but brought the wrong size sheets and bed pad three times. A hotel should have clean linens in the right sizes readily available. It left me seriously wondering whether sheets, blankets, bed pads, and towels are changed consistently at all. This place lacks basic cleanliness, enough staff, and proper guest service. Travelers should avoid it at all cost.

We checked in at the last minute without any trouble. The rooms were spacious and clean, the breakfast was good, and the employees were efficient and very polite. Great service. I highly recommend it.

We called around 9:30 pm to ask if a room would be available when we arrived at 1:00 am, and they said yes. But when we got there, nobody was at the front desk. We waited over 25 minutes, rang the bell several times, and called, but no one came. We didn't have a booking, and I understand they might have sold out, but they had told us on the phone there was a vacancy. Even if every room was taken, someone should have been there to answer.
