Super 8 Motel - Blair

The people here are super great. We got back to the motel around 6;30a after working all night, grabbed breakfast, then the staff let us sleep until 12:30p. No calls or interruptions, they let us nap before the drive home. The room was clean, the bed comfy, the shower was great, and the price was affordable. We’ll be back!

The desk guy was very nice. He understood that I wanted my same room back, greeted me with a good morning when he was there as I left at 5am, and said hello most other times. The location just off Hwy 75 was ideal, and traffic didn’t bother me in a road-facing room. The air conditioning worked well, though I had to keep it low to deal with the humidity and stagnant air. I stayed four weeks and went home on weekends. Breakfast was nothing to advertise: white or wheat bread, toaster waffles, and dry cereal. The mirrors had fingerprints and toothpaste splatter every time I came back. There was no outside smoking post for butts, so I left them in one spot instead of littering the grass, and they were taken care of. It was cheaper to book through the app than take the “deal” offered on site. They said it was a no-pet building, but I saw at least ten different dogs during my stay, including one across the hall that barked whenever I was at my door. I woke up the first morning to a cockroach on the nightstand and a giant moth on the curtain. They sprayed and treated the room that night. Later I found another cockroach on the table with the coffee pot. For extended stays, they said they’d change the sheets every three days, but I had to call for room service. I usually set the full garbage cans in the hall so they wouldn’t attract bugs in my room. I work a very dirty job and had to ask for the room to be vacuumed too. The photo showed someone else’s toenail clipping and debris between the bed and nightstand. It stayed there for all four weeks I was there. The bathroom was so small that opening the door rubbed against the tub, and you had to get into the shower to close it even to use the toilet. Ice from the machine was dirty, with gunk frozen in several cubes each time. The hallway occasionally reeked of pot, with a plug-in air freshener right by that group of rooms. The place had no bells or whistles and nothing stood out enough for a strong recommendation. It was just a place to stay.

The staff were great, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Coffee was delicious, though breakfast was minimal.
