It had a homey feel and was very clean, even though walking into the room felt like stepping back to 1970. There were just a few amenities, but they were enough for us: good heat and AC, a small fridge, a coffee maker, and Wi-Fi. I’d definitely book it again.

The room could’ve used some heat. It was mid-January and not terribly cold, but it would’ve been more comfortable with the heater on. There also weren’t enough electrical outlets for charging devices and using a computer.

The rooms are a good size and have a cabin-like feel. It was a decent motel and the experience was good overall, though it could use a bit of a deep clean and freshening up.

The owners were so kind and friendly, and the place has a cute character that we appreciated, even with a little roughness around the edges. Our bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and everything was clean. They weren’t serving breakfast during our two-night off-season stay, but there was coffee in the room. We had everything we needed and would definitely go back.

Blanding worked well as a base for exploring Southeast Utah, including Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks of the San Juan, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, and more. I was especially grateful to find a room here that night. I arrived late on my motorbike, soaked and freezing, and the great heater quickly warmed the room and dried my pajamas. The owner was a great guy, too. For a budget place at $85, Prospector offered free coffee in the office, a fridge and coffee maker in the room, and a generous free breakfast in the morning. I love these little budget spots that can offer more than a mid-priced chain.
