If you’re a mature couple or a family hoping to enjoy the island, look for another Inn. But if you’re in high school or college and want to party and drink, with loud music outside from 9am-3am, this may be your spot. There’s very little in the way of accommodations, apart from towels for the shared shower, and hot water is hit or miss. I’d strongly recommend the Marriott in Newport instead. Stay far away from the Gothic Inn unless you’re looking to get wasted, sleep in a lawn chair, and not be bothered. In that case, it’d be your dream destination.

In my 20 years of staying at hotels and rental homes on BI, this is the only place I’d never return to. It’s just run down, not charmingly rustic. There were holes in the walls, a strange brown smear in the bedroom, and a used bar of soap in the bathroom. Restaurants back onto the Gothic, so bottles get dumped over and over during the night. There’s thumping music late at night, and the smell of frying food comes from the vent fans. Don’t stay here.

Very quiet, affordable, and comfortable! Alton and the other staff are excellent and always smiling. My wife and I have been visiting block island since the early 20s, and the Gothic inn has become our #1 spot. Great place to stay.

The staff are friendly and really helpful, and the location near the beaches and old harbor is excellent. The continental breakfast is tasty, the accommodations are comfortable, and it’s pet friendly. Our pooch says smart parents will always choose the Gothic Inn.

The deck and yard were such a nice place to take in the views, and the room was comfortable and really clean. Even though it's in town, the spot feels tucked away and private. I loved staying here!
