Caldwell House Bed & Breakfast

Dena and John made this stay feel especially personal. Dena helped me plan a birthday surprise for my wife, arranging the timing and ordering flowers ahead of time. My wife was deeply touched, and the celebration felt seamless. At breakfast, Dena also made thoughtful vegan substitutions for my meals. They were planned with care and creativity, matched the quality and presentation of the standard breakfast, and never seemed like an afterthought. John’s warm conversation each morning added a friendly, communal feeling without intruding. The Carriage House’s Vineyard Room was quiet and inviting, with a comfortable blend of privacy and historic charm. Together, the setting, food, and attentive hospitality made for a relaxed and gracious stay. Caldwell House feels personal without being overbearing, refined without fuss, and considerate of individual needs.

We make a point of coming here for a romantic weekend at least once a year. John and Dena are great, and they’re accommodating with my wife’s dietary needs. Breakfast is always delicious, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the service is awesome. There’s plenty to do nearby, too.

That two-sided fireplace in the Harmony Hill Room made the bedroom and bathroom feel so warm and cozy. I’d never sat in a Jacuzzi beside a fireplace before! John and Dena were kind, professional, accommodating, and interesting. We also enjoyed sitting and chatting with friends in the Living Room by its gas fireplace. The breakfasts were exceptional, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

Breakfast was the highlight for us. The owners were warm and engaging, and served a delicious, hearty homemade meal that clearly had care put into it. We didn’t meet them until the next morning, which gave our arrival a quiet, almost retreat-like feel. Some people might want a more hands-on welcome, but we appreciated the privacy and smooth check-in. Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast is a peaceful, comfortable place in the heart of the Hudson Valley. The historic property is beautiful and well maintained, full of character, and our room was immaculate and cozy, with thoughtful touches that made us feel at home. We’d happily return for another relaxing getaway.
