Courtyard Chicago Bloomingdale

The room itself was nice, but the internet didn’t work until I called tech support. The daily $12 parking charge felt especially irritating for a suburban location. Customer service has slipped too: they now seem to send complaints straight to the hotel instead of escalating them to a central resolution team. Marriott is starting to feel like Motel 6.

The location is convenient, with lots of shops close by, and the room was decent. Still, I chose this hotel partly because its website and Google showed a pool. After checking in, I learned there wasn’t one; a remodel had replaced it with a fitness center. The front desk person said they didn’t know why the photos hadn’t been updated, then went about their day. I was also charged $12 a day to park, on top of the room rate, with no explanation during booking or check-in. The bathroom floor had cracked tiles, and the water pressure was weak.

Mark at the Bistro gave great service and the atmosphere there was lovely. The whole visit at Courtyard Bloomingdale went smoothly, from Victor welcoming me at check-in with a huge smile and making me feel valued as a guest and Marriott member, to Jose checking me out and sending me on my way looking forward to returning. It was an amazing stay.

Seven nights here in August 2025 were enough to put me off this place for good. The room smelled damp and musty, the carpets were filthy, and there was mold in the bathroom. I also found dead wasps on the windowsills. The TV kept shutting off, and the air conditioning and ventilation were poor. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I won’t stay here or at a Courtyard again.
