I’ve lived here for over two years and have really enjoyed it. The apartments are safe, clean, and well maintained, both inside and around the grounds. I’d definitely recommend them. Rachel and Emma, the lead agents and site managers, are alert, capable, kind, responsible, professional, and gracious. They add thoughtful touches that make the place feel more like home: donuts and hot coffee on finals day, free pumpkins and Halloween candy, game nights and book clubs, Christmas coffee with toppings, and a community jigsaw puzzle. They come up with lots of ways to help residents feel cared for. Kevin, the maintenance manager, is quick, efficient, and friendly. The cleaning crew is friendly too, and although I don’t use their services, my apartment was spotless when I moved in. Thanks to the administration for hiring such a great crew. It really makes a lively difference. Thanks again.

The ants were everywhere in my lower level apartment across from the office, and spiders crawled over the bed, cabinets, towels in the bathroom, and kitchen counters. They came out of the wall corners, including in the bedroom and bathroom. Maintenance came by a few times but couldn’t get rid of them. They sprayed and left ant traps for residents to handle themselves. It was filthy, disgusting, and unhealthy. The Board of Health should look into this infestation. Students upstairs on the second floor were extremely loud, disruptive, and out of control. Their behavior felt abusive, vindictive, and cruel. The front office wanted nothing to do with the noise, ants, or filthy conditions. This was the worst housing experience I could imagine for either a short or extended stay. The apartments should be condemned.

My partner and I have rented in four states since 2015, and living at Summerhouse since 2024 has been our best experience by far. The team is kind, professional, and communicates well. I can’t recommend living here enough.

My family loved living at Summerhouse and had a very smooth experience with Renaissance. I’ve been in Bloomington for about eight years and have rented through several companies, but Renaissance has been the best to work with. The pricing was fair, the grounds were extremely well kept, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. When issues did come up, they communicated openly. It’s a quiet area with friendly neighbors. We highly recommend living here.

I moved into Summerhouse in February 2022 and am moving out today, July 2023. I’ve had a good time here: the location is useful, the area feels safe, and the apartments are nice. I lived in building 4461, where road noise from 3rd Street was a problem. Emergency vehicles and loud cars went by at all hours. You get used to it, but it’s much noisier than the other buildings, and that’s the main reason I gave four stars. I know the road noise isn’t something the property can control, but it comes with the location. I also had noisy upstairs neighbors move in during summer 2022. I could hear stomping and things being dropped, though it wasn’t bad enough for me to complain. My rent only went up $20 at renewal, which was reasonable. The one bedroom might feel small to some people. As a guy living alone for the first time, it worked perfectly for me: good sized bedroom that also served as an office, a decent living room, and a small kitchen where I could cook a little. A few guests are fine, but it might feel cramped with more people over or with another person living there. It’s doable, though I wouldn’t recommend it. I felt safe here, and my girlfriend felt safe when she visited. The residents were quiet, and there’s a nice neighborhood behind the complex for a short walk. Target, the mall, and lots of restaurants are a two minute drive away, and the eastern part of campus is under ten minutes away. It’s a good fit for someone working remotely, like I was, or working at or attending the university, as long as you have a car. There are some bus stops nearby, but buses aren’t frequent and it can be hard to figure out which ones will get you back, so having a car is best. Thanks for hosting me during this chapter of my life.
