I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially for women who don’t want to be yelled at or treated disrespectfully. The owner was disrespectful and should train the night staff better. He should also dress more appropriately and wear a name badge, so guests know who the property manager is and can have situations handled properly. I’m considering filing a formal complaint against him. A staff member also stole my vape, as far as I can tell. It was in my room when I left, and after I called to ask the only cleaning lady whether she’d seen it, I was told she hadn’t. So unless you want to risk having something taken and being spoken to disrespectfully, I’d stay somewhere else.

The front desk clerks did their best to make a difficult stay manageable. Joey especially tried hard to make things enjoyable, whatever problems came up. Without that service, I would have asked for a refund. The rooms are passable, and the location may not be great, but the front desk staff make up for it.

If you’re looking this place up, you should know it doesn’t really function as a hotel. People live here because they can’t afford to, or aren’t able to, live elsewhere. It’s a small step up from being unhoused, or it will be if health inspectors let it reopen.

When I was homeless in 2020, I’d check in here whenever I had the money, just to have somewhere to go. It was close to the area I was in, and I was glad to get a break from being outside. It wasn’t the best, and some rooms and the plumbing could use work, but I was grateful to have a place at all. The people were always pretty nice to me, and I never really had any problems.

American Best Value Inn & Suites is hideous, deplorable, and inhumane. It smells like a pet shop, doesn’t seem sanitary, and has lots of people loitering and squatting around. I don’t think it’s safe for kids, yet plenty of children live there. It’s no place for children or adults, really, or for any human being. The website pictures are hugely misleading. I honestly think it should be shut down for good.
