Candlewood Suites Bloomington by IHG

The pantry here is the best stocked of any Candlewood I've stayed at, with just about anything you could imagine. The rooms are very clean and well stocked, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are accommodating. I left a set of keys behind on my latest trip. I called the front desk, and the staff let the manager, Dawn, know. She quickly got back to me and offered to mail them at no extra cost. Those keys are important, so I really appreciate the great service. I'll stay at this location again when I'm back for business.

Nathan at the front desk came through for us when our travel plans changed that day. Thanks, Nathan, for the excellent customer service! We've always liked this chain, and the Bloomington, Indiana Candlewood Suites was just as good as we'd hoped. Our room had comfortable beds, a nice sleeper recliner, and lots of counter and table space. The staff we met were friendly and helpful.

I checked in on 7/28/2025, but my credit card statement showed a charge for the night of 7/27/2028. I've contacted the hotel three times to have it removed. Each time, they said they'd leave a message for the manager to call me, but she still hasn't. She's neglecting her responsibilities. I'll contact corporate and try to get this sorted out.

Check-in was quick and smooth, and the front desk staff were friendly, which we appreciated after a long day on the road. But we won't be back, and our team wouldn't recommend this place, especially for families with kids or anyone counting on the listed amenities being available. We booked Candlewood Suites in Bloomington for a traveling basketball team because the pool and in-room fridge mattered for a weekend with kids and games. The fridge was a decent size, but it needed a proper cleaning. There was some mystery liquid in the drawers. An employee said the pool had been out of order for nearly a year, but that wasn't disclosed when we booked. We'd have picked another hotel if we'd known, and the online photos are misleading. Cleanliness was disappointing too. Long hair was caked onto the glass in one of the bathroom pictures, as if it hadn't been wiped in ages. And every room our group booked had a musty, strange smell that was hard to ignore.
