Crowne Plaza Suites MSP Airport - Mall of America

I liked the second-floor TV lounge, and the hallways smelled nice, but the cold was hard to ignore. Our room, the halls, lobby, and breakfast area were all freezing. We turned up the heat in the room, yet woke to it cold again. I regretted not bringing a hat and scarf downstairs, even in a sweater and wool pants. It felt like the heat might be kept low to save money. The parking ramp made a poor first impression. The steps were dirty and creepy, and the path from the fence to the rest of the lot hadn't been shoveled, though the route to the steps was clear. We avoided parking on the lower level, and the route from the garage to the lobby felt like a maze. The hotel could use updating. There were scuffs and peeling wallpaper in the room and halls, and the dark hallway color looked muddy. The shower pressure was weak. I expected wall mounted soap dispensers, but there was only bar soap and small shampoo and conditioner bottles on the sink. There was no shuttle to MoA, only to the airport. Staff mentioned a bus or something but didn't explain how to use it clearly. I probably wouldn't stay again, especially in winter.

The food was great, and the workers were putting in a lot of effort. I had a wonderful time, and so did my guest. I was there for my great nephew's wedding. The main-floor room felt intimate, though it was a bit too small, with the seats very close together because of the space needed for decorations. Upstairs was much roomier, so there was more space to move around, breathe, and mingle.

The employees were all great, and I felt for them since they were wearing actual hats and coats indoors. It was extremely cold during our visit, which I understand affected things, but I think there are ways to improve it. The check-in area, bar and grille, and game room were cold, though the game room was a little warmer. The granite counters in the bar area felt like blocks of ice. As of 01/20/26, the hot tub wasn't working. We booked mainly so we could use it while our kids swam. The property is also operating as apartments, and residents have access to the same amenities as hotel guests. Someone touring the pool area said they'd just gotten a place to rent, so keep that in mind. Edit: I hope the hotel sees this. I find it odd that they ask people to try again. I wouldn't pay a dime to come back.

I checked in around 10:00 PM on Thursday, January 24th, and asked the desk to charge the full amount and give me an invoice because I had an early flight the next morning. Instead, they charged only a $50 deposit and ignored my request. In the morning, staff said my card wasn't working, but refused to insert it into the terminal, saying PIN entry wasn't allowed at checkout. They rejected a second card for the same reason. There was an ATM right next to the front desk, but no one properly explained or showed me how to use it. The situation caused a lot of stress and nearly made me miss my flight to Turkey. I formally request that management investigate and question both front desk employees involved. Because of their incompetence, I almost missed my flight. I don't recommend this hotel.
