DoubleTree by Hilton Minneapolis Airport, MN

A delayed connecting flight meant I unexpectedly needed a hotel, since there was no crew and the delay ran from 21:50 until the next morning. I was really pleased with this place and its staff. The shower was amazing, and the rooms were clean and well kept. 👌🏻 👏🏻 👍🏻

Getting to the airport and mall was easy from here, and the room had a mini fridge, though it was small and there was no microwave. They initially charged us twice the quoted amount, but did correct it. We were meant to get complimentary breakfast with our event, but didn't receive a coupon even though most attendees did. The catering staff seemed stressed and were rude.

The bed was clean and comfortable, and the room smelled fresh. We booked through Bluepillow, and although they couldn't find our reservation at first, the staff took time to track it down. They gave us a warm cookie for the long walk to our room, which was quiet. Seeing my name on the TV when we arrived was such a cool touch. The place was easy to find, and everyone was super friendly.

We didn't get checked in until after 9PM, even though check-in is at 4PM. The night before, the hotel was 'fully booked' and the cleaning crew hadn't been able to turn over our two conjoining rooms. If they know in advance they'll be full, management should plan for the incoming guests. The rooms and bathrooms were smaller than at other DoubleTrees and weren't fully clean. There were hairs on the bathroom vanity and one pillow, plus stained couches. The fridge door wouldn't shut all the way and its freezer had blocks of ice built up, so it wasn't useful. The pool area was dirty, and the walk there had colorful, broken ceiling tiles that made it feel unwelcoming. This wasn't what I expect from a 4 star hotel. If I return to Bloomington, I'll look more carefully at other hotel reviews.
