Embassy Suites Bloomington

This location was a real letdown compared with the Hilton stays we usually enjoy. My husband travels often for work, is a diamond member, and sticks with Hilton. We also travel for our kids' sports, so we know the usual experience. The room smelled musty, the shampoo bottle was empty, and there was no bedding for the pull-out couch until we called the front desk. One of the two TVs only had a few channels, with most showing as offline, though the other TV worked. Kids ran through the halls, knocking on doors and running off at 11:30 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. When we spoke to a woman at the front desk after the late night incident, she responded with a lot of attitude. I also got sick from breakfast and missed an entire day of my daughter's soccer tournament, after we'd driven four hours to get there.

We chose this hotel for our April first wedding partly because of its big, beautiful atrium, and because David made us feel sure everything would be arranged as we'd dreamed. The day turned out perfect, like a dream, and was the best of our lives. Our guests loved the steak and salmon, and the food really was amazing. Beth and Nico made the bar special too. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, and the new rooms are incredible. I'd highly recommend the hotel as a wedding venue or for a regular stay. It has what you're looking for and feels like home.

Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were great at this fantastic hotel. I took a star off for the room because I hit my head twice. If you're over 6'4", watch out for low hanging things, especially hydraulic door closers and light fixtures.

There was demolition and rubbish all around the property, with debris across the floor and black tarps and tools throughout the hotel. Jackhammers started at 7 a.m., and construction workers were constantly hauling trash. Yet no one mentioned construction at check in, and I can't understand how guests weren't clearly told before being charged full rates. For a good night's sleep, look elsewhere. There was no extra bedding in the room either. The hotel store required a $5 minimum and had no machines, while the bar had a $12 minimum. It felt like they expected guests with nowhere else to go to put up with more than a moderate inconvenience. The Hilton name should mean a higher standard.
