Hampton Inn Bloomington

I was here for 18 months, and the staff treated me like family the whole time. Everyone was professional and kind, and upper management greeted me every day and checked that things were right. My room was always clean, and breakfast came on time and was really good. I enjoyed staying here and would come back anytime I'm in the area.

As a longtime Hilton Honors member, I found this location to be the worst. My room smelled of smoke, a bug was there, and the lighting stopped working. They moved me to another room but didn't officially switch it over, so someone could have walked in and scared the life out of me. After one night, feeling grossed out all day, I cancelled the rest of my stay and went to a nearby Hilton chain, where I had an AMAZING experience. Just ewwww. Stay away.

Non-guests were allowed into the free breakfast area, and groups of them were outside drinking in the parking lot all night, from around 10 p.m. when I arrived until I left at 6 a.m. One person harassed me as I walked to my car, which felt unsafe. My car had also been towed from the hotel lot during my stay, despite my being a registered guest and there being no clear warning. Getting it back cost me $200. Other reviews make this look like a recurring issue, and to me it shows ownership isn't acting or looking after customers. Hilton kindly offered 5,000 Honors points, but that doesn't cover the $200 I paid because of their mistake. I can't recommend the property given the towing and safety problems.

The staff really made this four-generation girls' weekend special. Everyone we spoke with was phenomenal, and the front desk was kind and helpful. I'm a former housekeeping supervisor and had no complaints about cleanliness. The building felt a bit unusual for a Hampton Inn, but our rooms were quiet, the shower had great hot water and pressure, and the breakfast potatoes were spectacular. Breakfast choices were limited, though the cook clearly puts real effort into the food. We had three rooms. My mom and grandma slept well in the comfortable first-floor beds, while my daughter and I had a hard, uncomfortable bed upstairs. She also scraped her ankle on a metal bed-frame piece because the box spring wasn't aligned properly. I'd suggest keeping the box springs aligned, adding microwaves to the rooms, and making sure the fridges stay on. Still, thank you all for helping make our weekend wonderful.
