For a stay while visiting IU, the location is very convenient, and the exterior is beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable enough, with nice soaps, though some fixtures felt cheap. A few quality details didn’t match what I’d expect from a comparable hotel. The gym had a few working treadmills, but its only weight machine was out of order and the water station was empty. There’s a Biddle Clean Promise notice on the bathroom mirrors saying housekeeping is only by request. I’m not sure what the promise is if nothing gets cleaned unless you ask. The desk phone also went unanswered reliably, or rather, not reliably: I called from the parking lot and it rang for about eight minutes. When I came in five minutes later, with no line at the desk, they said they’d seen the call but were too busy to answer. Even if that was the case, asking me to hold would have been better. Still, it’s a perfectly decent place to stay when you’re in town for IU.

The hotel sits in a lovely spot right in the middle of a beautiful campus, and the recently upgraded rooms look great. The fitness room seems neglected: there were no wipes or water cups, its only weight machine was out of order, and one of the two ellipticals didn’t work. I was also put off when a young woman at the front desk mocked a caller who was upset about an unexpected room cancellation.

The price is reasonable and the location is convenient, but housekeeping was awful. Service only happens if you request it. During the four days I was there, I got cleaning on three days, and it was below any reasonable standard. The bed wasn’t made, the trash bins were left out of place, and the staff seemed careless. Worst of all, the sanitary items and other rubbish from the bin had been thrown into the toilet. The hotel needs to take a hard look at its sanitation standards and staff training.

The location is good, but housekeeping came into my locked room while I was using the bathroom. That was not okay.

I had a wonderful stay. The staff were great, and Ethan deserves a special thank you for being so kind and helpful.
