Shawnee Lodge & Conference Center

Ms. Tawna at breakfast is wonderful, and she's been there for 30yrs!!!! The pool area is lovely, but that water is icy cold lol. The lodge itself feels so cozy and peaceful, and most of our stay was lovely. Dinner was lackluster, though, and the front desk staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. They could also make better use of the planter boxes by the bridge and stairs ❤️. OH DO NOT DRINK THE LOBBY COFFEE !

Our server was excellent, and I felt bad for her having to keep telling us the food was nowhere near ready. We were a group of 14 with 6pm reservations last night, the biggest group there, but only four tables including ours had customers. Still, the food took almost two hours to come out. They waited until it was time to serve us to say there were no baked potatoes, then said mashed potatoes weren't available either when we chose between those and fries. The Cajun pasta with blackened shrimp was just plain Alfredo, with no Cajun seasoning. The steaks had sat so long the juice had dried underneath. No manager came by to explain the delay, and they didn't offer a lower charge for the wait. We ordered right off the menu with no special requests. If the restaurant had been busy and the food excellent, the wait might have made more sense, but it was mostly empty and the food wasn't hot, fresh, or delicious.

The outdoor patio overlooking the hills was my favorite place to have a complimentary hot drink in the morning. The lodge is beautifully decorated for fall, and both the second and third floor lobbies have lots of room and comfy furniture. Our room was spacious, the rooms and lobby were clean, and the service was wonderful. We loved the game room and its range of games. We didn't swim, though the indoor pool looked nice. The outdoor pool is closed for renovation, though I imagine it would usually be closed this time of year anyway. There was a fire pit outside too. Renovation work is underway, and it caused a couple of small inconveniences. The lodge is already so nice that any updates will be the cherry on top. I can't wait to come back when it's all finished.

The location is remote, with no cell service, and the Wi-Fi is spotty at best. I have an MBA, and I'd strongly advise any business to pick a safer, more practical place for meetings. Mold, phone problems, and no internet are deal breakers.
