I was charged for both the Douglas Inn and Reid Ridge Lodge, even though I was moved from the first to the second after asking for a refund. I’ve been told for over a month that the Douglas Inn charge would be refunded, but it still hasn’t happened. Reid Lodge and Douglas Inn and Suites are owned by the same person or people. I brought my daughter, who has Autism, to the Douglas Inn, where the internet and TV didn’t work and the room had no secondary lock. I could barely communicate with the Indian guy managing the hotel. I’ll pay a visit the next time I’m up there. Do NOT support this hotel.

The man working there was rude and unpleasant. I rented a room for two adults and three small children. I took my two kids out, leaving the other adult there with her son. I hadn’t even been gone 30 minutes when he started banging on the door, complaining about noise, saying he wasn’t dealing with three kids and that we had to leave. There was only one child there, sitting down eating pizza and watching a tablet. His behavior was disgusting. I’ll never come back. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We paid for a room but never stayed in it. The strong deodorizer smell throughout the halls and rooms was awful, and the place was dirty with dark hallways and broken air conditioner knobs. There’s no elevator to the second floor, which I only found out after getting the key and trying to reach our room. The front desk wouldn’t move us to a first floor room or give us a refund, even though we’d just arrived. Lesson learned: read the reviews before booking somewhere you haven’t seen.

The location is great, but I couldn’t get past the room or the customer service. Before we arrived, I called with a simple question and the man at the front desk, who I believe is the owner, yelled at me. I told him to check his attitude; he seemed better when I checked in, but that first call put me off. The room was extremely outdated and smelled old and damp. We found dried blood on a pillow, the bed was so uncomfortable that we checked out three hours early and canceled brunch because we wanted to go home. The AC unit was outdated too, and they couldn’t provide even one extra bar of soap. I had to pretend I was a convict on the run just to get to sleep.
