Desert Rose Resort & Cabins

The views in every direction are fabulous, and this is a great spot for the scenery and dark skies of southeast Utah. The rooms are comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. With its rustic wood outside, dark interior trim and doors, and distressed furniture, the place could feel like a Gunsmoke episode, except it also has a microwave, flat-screen TV, and air conditioning. The pool and hot tub were very nice. The restaurant was closed for the season, so I can’t comment on it.

We picked Desert Rose as the night before our three-day river trip on the San Juan, and it was perfect for that. The pool and exercise room were gorgeous, and our room was clean and welcoming. There was one snafu, but the staff dealt with it professionally. I’ll be back.

The views from the luxurious rooms are amazing, and the hotel is very nice. I went with family, and everyone had a great time. Even the pool didn’t have that overpowering chlorine smell.

I was especially taken with the surroundings, the inviting pool, and all the greenery during my two nights at Desert Rose Resort & Cabins. It’s a scenic 55-minute drive to Monument Valley, and passing Forrest Gump Point made the journey memorable. The architecture and spirit of the resort also carry something of Bluff’s history. Staff were warm, attentive, and made me feel at home. Duke’s Restaurant served remarkable food, and I was impressed by the chef and team. I only found out too late that it closes on Saturdays and Sundays, so I missed having its food on the second day of my stay, which included a weekend day. Even with that small disappointment, I’d recommend Desert Rose Resort & Cabins to anyone passing through or visiting the area. The quiet, the views, and the setting made it a lovely place to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
