Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Bluffton

The breakfast was just dry bread packed into little sandwich bags, a bowl of apples with a couple of bananas, and orange juice that was expired. Housekeeping only came up twice during the week and a half I was there. On October 8, they brought clean sheets, blankets, and towels covered in a powdery substance, and they didn't feel clean. They also supposedly cleaned my room that day, but left the toilet, sinks, bathtub, and microwave dirty, didn't sweep, and didn't leave any toilet paper. There wasn't a single piece in the bathroom. I checked into America's best hotel in Bluffton Indiana on September 26th, and it's now October 8th. My car is still broken down, so I had to pay for another week because I have no transportation to go elsewhere. At first they charged $100 a night plus $10 for my dog. After four days, they said I could stay a week for $350. I paid that through October 8th, then had to pay for another week. This time they wanted $420, saying they'd forgotten to charge for my dog the previous week. Having the price change every time I went to the desk was really inconvenient and unprofessional. There was a bug in the bathroom, and blood on the tall lamp shade, bathroom walls, and baseboards. The room phone didn't work at all, so it couldn't call 911 in an emergency. The outlets took two and a half hours to charge my phone, even with a 70% faster charger I bought for $22 at the gas station across the street. The woman and man at the front desk of Indian descent made rude comments about things I was doing in my room. They shouldn't have known about that unless they could see into my room without my knowledge. There's a man in the room directly across from me who checked in the same day and has stayed the whole time. Every time I take my dog outside, he follows me out. He's super creepy. This hotel is dirty and sketchy.

I'd stayed here several times before and it hadn't been like this. Now the place feels downright creepy, and there's no one at the desk. It seems like people of a sort live there. Worst of all, I woke up with insect bites that turned into cellulitis. My doctor had to treat the dangerous pain and swelling with antibiotics. This motel has become a mess, maybe a health concern. Stay away.

I checked out as quickly as I could the next morning, after making sure there was nothing in my bags. On Friday night, November 8, I came back from a retreat and dinner, sat by the bedside table, and saw something moving. It was a roach. There was another in the nightstand drawer, and a third ran across the bathroom sink counter. I killed the one by the bed with a tissue. No one was at the front desk when I went to report it. I'd stayed at this hotel about three times before without any problems. On my November 7-9, 2024 stay, the first night was fine, and the manager checked me in after I rang for service. The room looked clean, though the building is older, but they have a roach infestation. I won't stay there again. Don't stay there.

It's within walking distance of downtown, and the location is great. The rooms were super clean and the staff were great, too. I stay in hotels at least two nights a week, and the price here is a great value. Don't be put off by the name or cost. I'll definitely come back.
