Holiday Inn Youngstown South by IHG

The staff across the hotel, from dining and housekeeping to the front desk and bar, made our fifth anniversary feel special and safe. We’ll definitely come back. At check-in, I think the front desk associate was named Kristen. She was welcoming, kind, and accommodating, and made us feel at home. Kirsten and Cathy were wonderful behind the bar. Cathy made drinks suited to us since we don’t drink much, and came up with one we loved. The next day Kirsten recreated it perfectly, then made me another simple, delicious drink that was just right. What really mattered was how Kirsten noticed when a man was making me uncomfortable and stepped in calmly and professionally. She helped make sure we could leave safely and comfortably. That care and awareness meant a lot to me, and you don’t see that kind of attentiveness everywhere. One of the best hotel stays we’ve had.

The service alone was awful. The woman at the front desk was rude, gave no welcome or thanks, and told us nothing about the hotel. For what we paid, I was very disappointed and won’t stay here again. There were several room and pool issues too. The TV was so small it was hard to see from bed, the fridge froze our drinks and had no dial to turn it down, and the water pressure was very low. The hot tub needs repairs: tiles were coming apart and could cut someone, and there wasn’t enough water, so the bubbles were all over and sitting in it felt uncomfortable. The pool ladder was loose, which is a serious hazard.

The people at Holiday Inn Boardman made me feel appreciated from the minute I arrived. The room was cozy and spotless, and the staff were warm and welcoming. I travel a lot, but this stay really stood out. They made me feel right at home and looked after, and I’ll definitely be back. Big love to the whole team for making it so special. The staff, especially Kate at the front desk, handled a lot going on really well and got my wife and me a nice room. Big shout out to the whole Holiday Inn Team. It’s always about TEAM!
