The food tasted amazing and the cocktails were wonderful. Everyone was very nice, but staff were stretched thin, and too many things I’d mentioned repeatedly for my wedding didn’t happen. I asked to have the cake topper brought to my room. It was, but no one told me where it had been left, and it got lost. The vegan meals I requested ahead of time weren’t there. The kid meal menu we asked for and double checked was changed without telling me. I’d arranged a special cupcake for my matron of honor because of dietary issues, and it never got to her, even though I gave several people her name and role. There was a lot of staff turnover, but I communicated often and in writing, and still had to repeat instructions to multiple people. I was frustrated by so many things going wrong on such a big occasion with 100 guests.

The bed was comfortable and the location was very good, but we were so disappointed with our three-day stay at the end of our Texas road trip. Our Garden Courte Room had thin walls, so we could hear the neighbors’ TV. A mother and her middle-aged daughter next door talked loudly in the early hours about high blood pressure. I asked reception to politely speak to them, but the noise continued throughout our stay. On the last day and night, a wedding at the hotel meant we couldn’t park near it. Reception said parking was first come, first served, but guests seemed to have spaces while reception visitors did, which felt like poor service. The main house looks lovely, but the grounds and scattered garden rooms are very worn, beyond a rustic look. Room service came once in our three-night stay. Reception said it was every other day on request, which seemed odd. The TV system is old, with no apps or premium services like Netflix. The room also didn’t feel very clean: a large rug under the bed was marked, and the tiled floor felt sticky. It wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed, but it was easily the worst on this trip. Even a mid-range Quinta Inn beats it, and The Kendall’s management should take a look at what they offer.

We stayed in the sewing room just after Christmas for two nights, and loved the space and super comfortable bed. The clawfoot tub was the cherry on top. The atmosphere was quaint and just right, and the courtyard fireplace was perfect for late-night conversations over a glass of wine. I don’t usually write reviews, but this place deserves one. If you’re deciding where to stay in Boerne, The Kendall is the place.

The rooms are beautiful and unique, the staff are the best, and the location is perfect for getting to all the cute shops. This was my second stay in a month, and I’ve found my home away from home when I travel for work. The only downside is that connecting the TVs to WiFi can be a pain. I managed to use my hotspot.

We had a wonderful courtyard, a fantastic bar, and great bartenders. The staff were super friendly, especially the receptionist on duty when we arrived Dec 23, and the location and overall ambience were top notch. We enjoyed our stay at The Kendall and would gladly return, though the friendly service and location had to make up for some room issues. We were in the Hill Country suites. There was a distinct vibration that seemed to come from HVAC or kitchen equipment below the rooms. My sister-in-law’s floor in Hill Country 1 was definitely vibrating. We were in Hill Country 2, where the vibration was less noticeable but the noise never went away. The WiFi was simply terrible, and the TV, which seemed to use wireless internet, didn’t work. We had to go out to the courtyard for a decent signal. The beds were comfortable enough, though the bed in Hill Country 1 was a little janky. The Kendall is worth a visit, but be aware it’s a 150+ year old building that needs some renovation and updating.
