Inn at 500 Capitol

The staff were so nice that I’d come back. The welcome drink, a glass of wine or beer, along with snacks, water, and soda, was a thoughtful touch. It’s a solid four-star stay, though for the price I expected more amenities. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The fireplace was great, but it put out a lot of heat. The A/C eventually started working, though it’s an odd older system that comes out of the ceiling and struggled to cool the room. The shower has only half a glass panel, so closing the bathroom door helps keep you warm.

We keep coming back to the Inn @ 500, and the staff’s care and attention to detail continue to impress us. For our wedding night, I arranged flowers in advance. They were beautiful, and the hotel gave us complimentary tumblers that we still use. For our anniversary, I coordinated flowers again and they upgraded us to a beautiful room themed around sun valley. It made the night special. We’ll be staying here for years to come.

The room was modern, very clean, and had a great view of the capital building. The gym had everything I needed, and we enjoyed a meal at the attached Hemlock restaurant, especially the $40 table side potato. We were greeted with a choice of wine or beer, and the front office staff knew the area well and happily suggested local places to eat and see. The hotel is near the Greenbelt, and they lent us complimentary bikes for two to three hours on a sunny day. We could also walk to the 8th street market and downtown. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

For our tenth anniversary, we wanted to mark the day with something special, even though we have a longer trip planned later this year. The Inn at 500 made it far more memorable than we expected. I called the day before to ask if I could leave a few surprises in the room, and the front desk staff were incredibly sweet and accommodating. Then we discovered they’d upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a breathtaking view. My husband and I were both moved to tears. The room was gorgeous, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. We’ve decided to make a visit here a tradition every six months, and next time we can’t wait to bring our pups along.
