Discovery Inn Macon

We had a quiet night and I felt safe here. People in the other rooms mostly kept to themselves, though some of us sat outside our doors for fresh air. The rooms are nonsmoking, with smoking allowed outside. I’d stay again. Check-in was quick and easy, and the woman at the desk was very nice. I’d booked at the last minute for three days, and the price was reasonable, though a couple of similarly rated hotels were cheaper. They had no issue with my small service animal. The room was clean and the hot water was great, really hot. But the deodorizer was so strong that it made my eyes, nose, and throat burn all night that first night. I didn’t get service on day two, so the chemical smell could air out. The property also needs a lot of repairs: the lock box on the door was open with wires showing, there was no bathroom mirror or fire alarm, the toilet seat was badly worn, and the carpets need replacing. The towels were stained, but clean.

I’ve stayed at this motel on and off for about 15 years and have always liked the service. On my last few visits, the changes under the new management have been easy to notice. The service has improved, things are cleaner, and the rooms have been renovated. Thanks to the Manager, Troy, for the work he’s putting into making this a better place. If you’re in the area, I’d choose this motel. You won’t be disappointed.

It stays pretty quiet on both the front and back sides, without much traffic or people hanging around. The owners and housekeepers are really nice, and the rooms are clean. The bathrooms smell strongly of bleach. Beds are comfortable and bug free, and the WiFi works great. There are newer and older rooms, with different options depending on your budget.

I first found this motel online and was pleasantly surprised by my stay in a Basic room. The courteous, professional manager later showed me a Deluxe room, and I was impressed with the updates, so I upgraded. I liked the room, though I would’ve preferred drawers instead of shelves. On my most recent visit, I asked whether any Deluxe rooms had drawers, and they did. That made the stay even better.
