Super 8 by Wyndham Boise

We were in and out within minutes because the room wasn't usable: the toilet wouldn't flush, there was a strong odor, and no maintenance staff was there around midnight. I was told a refund had to wait until maintenance could confirm the toilet problem. Since no one could fix it then, I wasn't comfortable staying. When I called later for an update, General Manager Gina refused a refund, repeatedly asked if I was “high,” and abruptly ended the call. I was only asking about the refund, and that treatment was extremely unprofessional. We didn't stay, so I'm requesting a full refund. Between the room and the way this was handled, I wouldn't recommend this place. Don't waste your time or money. I'd strongly suggest staying somewhere else.

Easy, plentiful parking and an indoor pool are two things I appreciate here, and I can't remember another Super 8 I've stayed at with a pool indoors. The airport is very close, which is why I've returned several times. My rate has been reasonable on each visit, and I've always found the room clean. I also like that the property is smoke-free. It's a good inexpensive option near the Boise airport.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was fine. Breakfast was better than fast food, though there wasn't any protein and the only fresh fruit was three rather sad apples. Sheets and pillows smelled freshly clean. I did find the AC filter full and cleaned it out myself. It's an older place with some attempts at updating: the bathroom tile was cracked and gross, the door signs and HVAC units were dated, and it looked like two guest rooms had been turned into the breakfast area. Some things are harder to change, like the narrow hallways, dim lighting, no bathroom fans, and paper-thin walls. Still, it was a solid value right off the freeway if you just need a place to sleep and shower.

The bed springs poked my friend in three different spots, and she couldn't sleep. The breakfast was okay, but that was about the only acceptable part of the stay, and it didn't make the price worthwhile. We first saw ants on the bedside table, and the outlets didn't work, so we asked to switch rooms. The front desk person said she couldn't promise the next room would be ant-free or have working outlets. The replacement room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke despite the no-smoking signs, and an air freshener clipped to the AC didn't cover it. I had an old air freshener in my purse, and my friend tried to call the desk to ask them not to charge us for the smoke smell since we don't smoke. Nobody answered. When she went to the desk, the employee said she was on another call, though she was sitting quietly there. It seemed like she was avoiding calls. Another guest mentioned the next morning that they'd had trouble with her too. That guest said they'd been overcharged $1,000, and two other guests said they'd been overcharged $4,500. My friend asked for a manager and was told no. The employee said she had a lobby full of customers, though only two other people were there, and refused to contact the manager on duty. Other people in the lobby were also asking for a manager. I know a hotel manager should be reachable around the clock. There was plenty more that wasn't acceptable. What standards are you holding yourselves to? The front desk person should be fired and the whole place shut down.
