Aloft by Marriott Bolingbrook

The paint smell on my floor made me cough and sneeze throughout the stay, and when I asked the front desk for housekeeping, they said service was only every other day. I expected it could be done on request. The early check-in was also a mess. Before arriving, I called after landing at ORD at 0900 and driving around until noon; the reservation desk put me on hold for about four minutes, then confirmed I could check in early. But when I arrived about 15 minutes later, the receptionist said I couldn't. She had a bad attitude while I tried to explain, then checked and asked me to pay $20. One staff member, Michelle, was professional and had great customer service. I had requested an early check-in when booking and had been told it wasn't guaranteed, so I was told to call ahead.

As I wrap up a 15-night stay, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. I may see you again in December. This place has felt like a home away from home lately, especially over the past few months, and Damien has always looked after me well and answered my emails promptly. The team is full of warm, helpful people. Ricardo and Mayra at the bar have taken care of me for years. Karen, Rachel, and Alonso are always welcoming, and Naomi is kind and professional. Maria and Chris in the kitchen are pleasant and accommodating. Luis is a caring, devoted maintenance man. The women who look after the rooms do a nice job, as does the young man I recently met who maintains the common areas. I hope I haven't missed anyone!

Most things were taken care of, and I was comfortable here. Still, waking up on a holiday ready to see family and finding the shower water wasn't hot was a rough start. I feel a little silly complaining about it, but I had hoped the day would begin perfectly. Great hotel otherwise, so please get the hot water fixed for the next guest.

Mayra was bartending, and she was such a fun, friendly person to talk with. She helped me with directions and drink choices too. I'd happily stop in for a drink if my job sends me to IL again. Definitely recommend dropping by when she's behind the bar.
