The SeaScape Inn

The rooms are updated, clean, and comfortable, and I feel safe and secure here. The location right by Ocean Beach is wonderful, with transportation nearby, free parking, a coffee shop next door, and food within walking distance. We especially like Hook Fish. I’ve stayed several times because my daughter and son-in-law live in San Francisco, and I get healthcare through UCSF. V is the person I know best on site, and they’re always helpful, polite, friendly, and professional. I’m glad I found this little Inn in the Sunset District, and I’ll keep staying whenever I can. I highly recommend it for a San Francisco trip. Thank you, V!

The rooms are clean and make for a good night’s rest when you’re busy seeing the sights around town. Check-in is always quick and easy, and the rates are good. The location at the end of Judah Street is great too, with the MuniTrain running right from the front door.

The location is handy, right by the beach with easy tram access, and free Wi-Fi was fast and steady, close to 100 Mbps both up and down. Free parking helps in this area, but spaces are very tight, first come first served, and may not suit a larger car. The bed was comfortable and the toilet and bathroom looked clean, but other things in the room put us off using the shower. There was a strong dusty, damp smell that made breathing uncomfortable. Something on the floor by the fridge looked very unclean, so we kept our distance. The room seemed partly updated at first, but the walls and doors clearly hadn’t been refurbished, leaving it feeling tired and unfinished. The air conditioner was old and visibly dusty, and we didn’t feel safe turning it on in an already dusty room. The room got uncomfortably cold, and there was no soundproofing, so we could hear outside sounds and neighboring rooms. The location and basic amenities are appealing, but the air quality, upkeep, and cleanliness concerns made our stay uncomfortable. Better maintenance and a deeper clean could make a big difference. As it is, I’d only recommend it for a short stay if location is the main priority. In response to the owners: I did report the issues to the front desk through the booking.com platform. The only offer was that we could check out the next day and get a refund for one night. The owners’ response further convinces me not to book here.

We had a car this visit and wanted to be near the ocean, Golden Gate Park, and the Presidio hiking trails, so the Ocean Beach location worked well. Java Beach Cafe next door had great espresso drinks and pastries. The room was large for SF and even had a loveseat, and the king bed was exceptionally comfortable. The shower had full flow. Nothing fancy, but it suited us.
