The Bartlett Hotel and Guesthouse

The room was never cleaned during my stay, and my towels weren’t changed for four days. I put the “Please clean the room” sign outside and even spoke to housekeeping on the second floor, but nothing happened. Before checkout I checked under the bed, since things sometimes fall there when I travel, and found dried liquid stains, dirty napkins, and a paper bag that might have been from a food delivery. I submitted a formal complaint, but got no answer for days. I also tried to speak to someone at reception before leaving, but no one was available. This level of cleanliness is unacceptable.

The room was very clean and basic, but good for the price. I stayed five days in a queen room with a private bathroom. I don’t need daily cleaning or extra service, and liked not being disturbed. Everything else I needed was within a short walk. I felt safe, and the street seemed safe too. I liked the Panasonic bathroom fan, since I know they help prevent moisture and the mold and smell that come with it. Being on the building’s side, I didn’t hear street noise, but I did hear rude guests slamming doors. The radiator made a loud sound as water cycled through it at 5am every morning. It seemed programmed, and woke me up, so I gave four stars instead of five.

Well located near food and coffee, and a quiet room overlooking the inner courtyard made this a perfect hotel for a reasonable price. Just be aware that the receptionist isn’t always there. You might need to check in at another hotel from the same group on the next street.

We were happy with the place and had everything we needed for our stay. Great location. Check-in was a little confusing because it’s at a different hotel down the street, but that was alright. The room was clean, and there’s a shared kitchen on the floor with lots of things to use. Great. :) Photos are from check out.
