The Mosser

For anyone on a budget, I’d recommend it. It’s affordable, has vintage character and personality, and does the job. Both the room and bathroom were very clean. My window was jammed, and Erick at reception went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. It was just what I expected.

For about $300 for four nights, it was an amazing deal. The location was really good, the room nice but a little small, and the staff were pleasant. The sink being in the bathroom felt odd, and the corridor smelled a bit old, though nothing too bad. At night I could hear people yelling outside, and sometimes the room got way too hot.

We chose the Mosser for our first San Fran visit in May because it’s close to shops and transportation, and my husband likes boutique hotels. Our five-day stay was enjoyable, and we’d go back. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was somewhat small, mostly because of the building’s age, but it was clean, cozy, and sufficient for us. Harlequin Restaurant is right next door, and Trader Joe's is just a couple of buildings away, which was convenient. The hotel offers complimentary morning coffee. I think adding a continental breakfast with things like muffins and fruit would make a stay even better.

The staff were thoughtful, kind, and helpful, and when we found a bug in our single room, they upgraded us for free. It didn’t look like the kind you get from an infestation. I stayed at the Mosser for about four days, and despite a few issues it was a very good experience. The shared shower room was very clean and comfortable, but the shared bathroom was so tiny it was hard to get into. I’d definitely stay again.
