Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Birmingham - Inverness by IHG

The room itself was not very clean and fell well below the other IHG hotels we've stayed in. We also found the safe locked by the previous guest. The front desk first said they hadn't received the safe codes from corporate and I couldn't use it. Corporate told me the hotel had the codes. When I asked again, the clerk said she wasn't sure because she and her manager were both new. At check-in, our first key didn't work. We went back down for another, and that one failed too. Only on the third trip did we get a new key and a different room. It was aggravating, though it is what it is. This is the worst IHG in the chain for us. I won't book here again, and I'll let my points expire.

We travel often and stay at Holiday Inn by IHG for most of our trips. The coffee is reliably good and hot, breakfast is well planned, and the pool was clean and warm, perfect for floating and relaxing. The staff are superb, kind, thoughtful, pleasant, and helpful. The hotel could use a few touch-ups, but that didn't change how we felt about the stay. Our one suggestion is for IHG to get permission for a road or passage to the back of Target. 280 BLVD. is really a freeway, and getting on or off it to go anywhere is daunting. The DOT and city of Birmingham should consult a different street planner. That's all Birmingham's problem, not Holiday Inn's. We're heading back to Birmingham and will proudly stay at this Holiday Inn again.

The blackout shades made it easy to sleep in, and the room was roomy and comfortable. The hotel was spotless, breakfast was solid, and the staff were warm and friendly. I also loved the new coffee machines with endless fresh, hot coffee. Great value for the area and a perfect stop on my route.

The room looked and smelled brand new, and everyone working there was so friendly, they seemed happy to be there. Check-in took about two minutes, and online checkout was even quicker. We found a couple of places close by for a quick supper after our event, then enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. There was anything you could want for breakfast, plus a wonderful cup of coffee. We loved visiting Birmingham, and the hotel was fantastic.
