The Clancy, Autograph Collection

I keep staying here because it’s near our headquarters, and the location is good. The hotel is reasonably nice, but I’ve run into a new operational problem on nearly every visit. One time the power went out and they moved us to neighboring hotels; another time there was a power issue and we spent a night without electricity. On this visit the internet kept dropping in and out, and another time half the elevators were broken. This place is just really poorly run.

This is a business hotel, not a luxury stay. The rooms are clean and a good size, with coworking spaces throughout, but there’s no room service. You can get food from the café, restaurant, or bar by ordering online and picking it up downstairs. There’s also a small market for snacks and toiletries if you need something last minute. The decor is bright and modern, and I liked having plenty of outlets for work. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s downtown, minutes from major tech offices like LinkedIn and Salesforce, so I’d stay again when visiting my office.

The price felt far too high for a stay that was neither welcoming nor good value. I spent about six nights at The Clancy Hotel, and several front desk staff were dismissive, sometimes a little rude. When I asked for a late checkout after nearly a week, they wanted more than $25 an hour, even for one extra hour. Most reputable hotels usually give long-stay guests at least an hour for free. The room was very dark, with poor lighting that made reading or working uncomfortable, and the window looked straight into another building, with no San Francisco view. The layout felt awkward and not guest friendly, and room service left the overall cleanliness lacking. I’d suggest another place with better service and professionalism, such as the Marriott.

I was there for Microsoft Ignite from 11/17/25 to 11/21/25. The hotel was clean overall, and I felt welcome when I arrived. Staff were nice. I forgot my key after leaving room 803, but a housekeeper nearby said she needed to call the front desk first, which I appreciated. She then remembered she had a sheet with guest names and let me back in. The room had double beds and a sofa, but felt cramped, with nice art on the walls. It was mostly quiet except for street noise and a trash truck emptying a dumpster across the street under the bridge. The restaurant downstairs seemed pricey. I ordered the seven square burger, which tasted good but was messy, and I’d asked for it well done, but it wasn’t. I’d stay again, though probably wouldn’t eat there.
