The Bolivar Inn

The motel felt run down, the parking lot wasn’t very clean, and we didn’t feel secure around some of the people there. My husband John and I returned to Bolivar from Whiteville on May 30th, 2025, and were shocked to learn from the office manager and some guests that the ice machine and the washer and dryer had been removed about eight months earlier. Those machines had been in a small room beside room #117, and had worked pretty well when we knew the motel before the last new owner took over. The place also doesn’t seem ideal for families. People sit on the window ledges, play music loudly, shout or talk loudly to each other, and keep it up into the early morning hours. Each morning, John and I find empty alcoholic drink and liquor bottles, along with junk mail, left behind on the way from our room door to the parking lot dumpster, about 30 feet away. They charge registered guests $250 including motel tax for rooms at the very end, along the same road as the Discount Bolivar Tobacco Retail Store or Public Commercial Retail Business.
