Laurel Notch Motel

They told me on arrival that service dogs weren't allowed. I explained that my son's service dog would be looked after for the night, and they said I could come back once I'd taken him to the sitter. But after I did that and returned to the room already reserved through emergency housing, they turned us away. My two children, ages fifteen and nine, both have special needs, and we had nowhere else to stay. The manager Charles didn't care and told me, "u can't be a pet owner n stay here!" Heartless!

We were visiting from out of state, and every other reasonably priced hotel nearby was booked. Charles, the new manager, made sure we were comfortable. The service was great, the rooms decent, and the rates reasonable. If my travels bring me back to the area, I'd stay here again because the service and management were so good.

For an affordable and comfortable stay, especially during this snowstorm, this place gets two thumbs up from me. The room was clean, heated, and renovated, with a new shower and a light-up sink. This was my first time reviewing a hotel, but I thought it was a great choice.

A few months ago I stayed here and it was okay, though the heat didn't work well. This time I drove six hours after calling to get a room. The phone rang 15 times without anyone answering. They don't take reservations, but said they had lots of rooms. When I arrived, there was literally one car in the whole lot, yet I was told there were no rooms left. I'd understand if the lot were full, but it was 10 p.m. and there was just that one car. I've crossed this "under new management" place off my list. Luckily, Red Roof is a quarter mile down the road, and I got a room there without a problem.
