The Palms at Indian Head

This place is nicely tucked away and pretty quiet, right at the edge of Anza Borrego State Park. The attached restaurant is wonderful, though it’s open limited days and hours, and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. There’s an art gallery too. The pool is "self heating," so it was pretty chilly in winter, though the poolside view is better. We’re going back next month.

We used to live in San Diego and often visited Borrego Springs. Since we had dogs, we stayed at the RV campground and went to The Palms for dinner every evening. One off-season visit, we came without the dogs and were the only hotel guests. They kindly left the front door unlocked, letting us have the whole place to ourselves for three wonderful days. The trust and kindness meant so much. We live in Cape Town now, and thinking about The Palms and Borrego Springs makes my heart ache. 😥😥

We left as soon as we arrived because the property felt extremely sketchy, unsafe, and dirty. There were abandoned buildings nearby and no staff on duty. We were explicitly promised a full refund, but after many calls and emails went unanswered, we finally reached them and they refused to honor that promise. Dishonest and unacceptable business practices. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. My husband loves meat, but he couldn’t chew the filet mignon and had to spit it out. I’m not sure if it was a bad cut. The rest of the food was okay, though a bit bland. I live here.
